Crock Pot Bar-B-Que

My latest venture into batch cooking has been Bar-B-Que. Now, the only people in my house who eat bar-b-que are my husband and myself so I knew I was making way more than we needed and that was the plan.  I purchased a 4 pound pork butt roast but you can also use a shoulder roast.  I put the entire roast into my large crock pot with some salt, pepper, and coca-cola.  You can also use ginger ale or just plain water.  I prefer the taste of Coke so that’s what I used.  I put the crock pot on high and let the whole thing cook for about 8 hours.

After it finished cooking, I pulled it out and drained all the juices.  I then pulled off all the fat and shredded the pork with a fork.  I put the shredded pork back into the crock pot with some bar-b-que sauce.  I used Sweet Baby Ray’s because it is my favorite and I had a coupon.  Turn the crock pot down to low and cook until warmed through.

We had bar-b-que sandwiches for dinner.  Now for the batch section. I had purchased a 12 pack of buns.  I put the pork on each bun and individually wrapped each sandwich in plastic wrap.  I put the 10 individually wrapped sandwiched back inside the bun bag and closed with tie.  The whole lot went into the freezer.

To eat the bar-b-que, simply unwrap the plastic and wrap in a paper towel.  Into the microwave for 1 1/2 minutes or 90 seconds.  You are ready to eat a super yummy sandwich!
